Beijing Bird’s News Stadium architect to design new VAG project
Switzerland-based Herzog & de Meuron has been selected to design the new and expanded $300 million Vancouver Art Gallery at downtown Vancouver’s Larwill Park. At approximately 300,000 square feet, the new Gallery building will provide more than double the space of the current facility to support the museum’s collections, exhibitions, and programs, which have increased exponentially over the past decade.
B.C. license plates to change format
Beginning in June, new license plates in B.C. will go from a “000-AAA” format to a “AA0-00A” format. The change is happening because ICBC is nearing the end of possible unique combinations for passenger vehicle plates, which means the introduction of a new format.
Sutton Place Hotel to open new restaurant
The Sutton Place Hotel restaurant is undergoing a complete revamp to prepare for a new restaurant and oyster bar that will open this summer. Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar will feature a completely refurbished dining room, bar, oyster bar, private dining room and expansive outdoor patio, in addition to the existing Gerard Lounge. The kitchen will feature a powerhouse team led by Alex Chen in the back-of-house and have a seafood-focused menu.
